You Should Have Room to Breathe

SUNDAY AT COMPASS

You should have room to breathe.

Sunday at Compass is a little space to be present in something other than doomscrolling. No heavy psychology. Nothing you need to work on. Nothing you need to learn. Just a reminder that life can also be funny and silly and completely absurd.

For example:

My five-year-old woke up at 6:30 this morning, ran outside completely naked, and started singing Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree for all of our neighbors to hear. It is August.

I don't know what possessed him. I don't know why Christmas entered the chat. And I definitely don't know whether our neighbors were prepared for a nude holiday concert before their morning coffee. He, however, seemed entirely unconcerned with any of this. And really, there is something admirable about that level of commitment to a moment.

So wherever you are this Sunday morning, I hope there's a little room in your day for something ridiculous. Something that makes you laugh. Something that reminds you that the world is also weird and funny and surprising.

And, occasionally, that something is a naked five-year-old belting Christmas music into the neighborhood at 6:30 in the morning.

Oh, to be five again.

Happy Sunday.
